Co-production of Houston Grand Opera, Glimmerglass Festival and Lyric Opera of Chicago

Renowned musical director and pianist, Leonard Bernstein was also a leading composer of orchestral, operas and even musical works, being the most famous of them West Side Story, which even became a successful film. A work located in the New York of the fifties, in which Tony and Maria live a love story in the midst of gang fighting, violence and prejudice.

West Side Story stands out for bringing the world of serious music to popular music and includes jazz, Latin rhythms and memorable songs, which resonate with surprising topicality when dealing with love, hate, fear of migrants and racism.

A successful production featuring Francesca Zambello and musical direction by Pedro-Pablo Prudencio.

Based on a conception of Jerome Robbins, book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Original production completely directed and choreographed by Jerome Robbins. Released on Broadway in 1957.
